At Sage & Heart, we believe that what you put on your skin matters just as much as what you put in your body. That's why every product we handcraft in Gilbert, Arizona is made with thoughtfully selected, naturally derived ingredients chosen for their time-tested benefits, not because they're trendy or inexpensive.
We never use synthetic fragrances, perfumes, artificial dyes, or unnecessary fillers. The colors you see in our products come naturally from the ingredients themselves or from botanical infusions such as herbs and clays. Any scent comes only from the natural aroma of the ingredients or from carefully selected pure essential oils.
Why We Build on Grass-Fed Tallow
Many conventional skincare products rely on long lists of ingredients that can include petroleum-based compounds, silicones, synthetic preservatives, harsh detergents, and artificial fragrances. While these ingredients may improve shelf life, texture, or scent, they aren't essential to creating a product that effectively nourishes your skin. We take a different approach.
Instead, we build every formula around nutrient-rich ingredients that have been trusted for generations. Grass-fed tallow forms the foundation of many of our products because its fatty acid profile closely resembles the natural oils found in healthy skin, making it exceptionally compatible with your skin's protective barrier. Combined with nourishing plant oils, botanical extracts, beeswax, and other naturally sourced ingredients, our products provide hydration and support without unnecessary additives.
What Goes Into Our Products
Grass-Fed Tallow
Rendered from grass-fed beef fat, including tallow from Arizona ranches in some of our body butters. Rich in fatty acids similar to those in your skin's own oils, it's the nourishing base of our balms, butters, and soaps.
Nourishing Plant Oils
Oils such as olive, sweet almond, coconut, castor, and walnut add softness and glide, and help carry the benefits of herbs and botanicals into every balm and bar.
Beeswax
A natural wax that gives our balms and salves their smooth, protective texture and helps seal in moisture on lips and skin.
Botanical Infusions
Herbs like calendula and lavender are slowly infused into oils, bringing their gentle character and natural color into our healing salves.
Pure Essential Oils
Lavender, peppermint, frankincense, and other pure essential oils provide scent the natural way. We never use synthetic fragrance.
Oats, Clays & Simple Extras
Colloidal oatmeal, natural clays, vitamin E, and honey (in some of our soaps) are added only when they truly benefit the finished product.
